Do you need to have your system power flushed? Does your system suffer from any of the following symptoms:
- Cold spots in radiators
- Loud banging noises from the boiler
- Noisy pipes due to restrictions
- Radiator cold at top
- Radiator cold at bottom
- Blocked pipes & valves due to sludge or limescale
- Boiler cutting out due to damaged or blocked pump
- Dirty brown or black water present when bleeding radiators
- Little or no hot water due to blocked pipes and heat exchanges
If so then power flushing can help, the benefits of Power flushing Include:
- Improves central heating efficiency
- Prevents build up of oxidative ‘sludge’
- Extends lifespan of radiators and boilers
- Improves water circulation
- Reduces boiler noise
- Heating up times are reduced
- Hotter radiators
- Save on heating bills
- Can be done in a day
Although we always power flush when carrying out a boiler upgrade, there is no reason why you can’t have your current system flushed to help improve its performance, by clearing the pipes and radiators it will help to keep it running at its optimum efficiency at all times and help prevent breakdowns caused by internal deterioration.
A power flush is a cleansing process which aims to remove deposits of sludge, rust and any other debris from your central heating system. These contaminants, if left, can seriously affect the efficiency of a heating system and in severe cases a power flush is the only option available.
The overall aim of a power flush is to restore the full circulation of water around the central heating system; however, it can also eliminate noise from the boiler and the pump as well. This means that the entire system has to be flushed in order to get the best results.
A Failsafe Heating engineer will connect a powerful high flow/low pressure ProFlush pumping unit to the central heating system – either to the circulation pump in regular boiler systems or the pump head in combination boilers or alter pipe work to accept the Proflush – and with the help of high strength cleansing chemicals will flush out anything in the system.
The Proflush machine Failsafe Heating uses has 2 large Magnetic filters built into the machine which ensures dirt will not to re-enter the system which also cuts down on the water wastage. Our policy is to use a little water as possible so by using the Proflush machine we don’t have to waste diluting the system water. This can also save time and disturbances.
The chemicals used during a power flush include a sludge remover to help get rid of rust and sludge, a de-scalar can be used to break down lime scale and a corrosion inhibitor to stop further rusting from occurring. The sludge remover are naturally based and they help to combat any rust present and any other debris, such as sand particles, that might have settled in the radiators, pipes and boiler. At the end of the process there is no residue left in the central heating system’s water.
Most power flushing professionals state that a full power flush will take around 6 hours to complete. This is an estimate though as some badly affected heating systems will require more time whilst others may be finished quicker.
The price of a full system power flush varies with location and the size of the heating system and can range from £350 upwards depending on the style and size of the system. Failsafe Heating believes in doing the job right once.
It is important that your central heating system is as efficient as it can be at all times and although a power flush can be an expensive process, it can also save a lot of money over time with regards to your heating bills but should be used in conjunction with a complete boiler service for best results.
The process is clean and safe when done by a professional such as Failsafe Heating and can quickly eliminate cold radiators and noisy boilers and pumps thus restoring your heating system to the condition it was when new.
Magnetic / Dirt Filters
Failsafe Heating also endorse Adey Magnaclean on all installations as we feel no mater what process is carried out, still some products of dirt remain in the system and by fitting a Adey Magnaclean, prevents further damage to the system, the visible can be quite astounding, we believe that the Adey Magnaclean, pays for itself “seeing is believing”
How it works
Modern central heating systems with high efficiency boilers are clean, efficient and economical, but ONLY if operating at peak performance. The natural process of black iron oxide build–up soon impairs performance and eventually clogs the boiler and radiators.
The majority of systems suffer from black iron oxide contamination. This creates thick sludge deposits that are the result of corrosion taking place within radiators and other metallic components. The oxide particles range from very large to sub-micron with the latter leeching into the system water continuously during use.
Installing MagnaClean Professional to a new or existing central heating system is simple. It comes with purpose designed triple sealed valves, which allow 360° rotation. Also included is a spanner for lid removal and a custom made spanner for easy valve operation. Servicing is a two minute job. Simply remove and wash the filter’s sheath at the annual boiler service.
